Griffith Aaron Baker

Griffith Aaron Baker was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1981. He studied sculpture at the University of Regina, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2004 before completing his Master of Fine Arts at Montreal's Concordia University in 2009. Baker has worked in the art field as the director and curator of the Estevan Art Gallery & Museum. He has also worked as a contractor, a job that led him to collect wasted materials that he would later incorporate into his art.

Baker's work ranges from drawings to sculptures to installations. He frequently uses post-consumed materials and explores themes of consumption, waste, and environmental systems. Baker has shown his work across western Canada and in Quebec in numerous group and solo exhibitions. His work is part of the collections of the Dunlop Art Gallery (Regina) and le Centre d'exposition de Baie St. Paul (Baie St. Paul, Quebec).

In 2008, Baker received an emerging artist Creative Assistance Grant from the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Baker lives in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where he works as the director/curator of the Mann Art Gallery.
