Dawn Kress

Dawn Kress was born in 1971 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She began drawing as a young child and though she always enjoyed art, Kress first pursued work in the corporate world before eventually turning to art full time.

Kress' figure and portrait drawings, largely in black and white but occasionally featuring colour, evoke emotion and explore experiences related to LGBT life. With her work, Kress intends to educate the public about the LGBT community and support the community as well. She seeks to demonstrate the universal “joys and pains of life and relationships” that are experienced by all, as well as the specific challenges facing LGBT individuals. Her work has been shown at Saskatoon's Positive Passions Art Gallery.

Kress lives and works in Regina, Saskatchewan.
