Grant Leier

Grant Leier was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, in 1956. His art studies took him to the Alberta College of Art (Calgary, 1974-1978) and the Illustrator's Workshop in New York (1978).

Leier's work includes paintings and mixed-media collages that combine colourful found objects with bright acrylic paint. Leier's time at the Illustrator's Workshop inspired a love of pattern, which guides him in attempting to evoke excitement, humour, nostalgia, and a sense of celebration in his work.

Leier's paintings have been exhibited in Canada and California, and his work is represented in collections including Public Archives Canada, Athabasca University, Chevron Canada, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Esso Resources Canada, and Air Canada.

Grant Leier lives and works in Ladysmith, British Columbia.
