Henry Ripplinger
Henry Ripplinger was born in 1939 in Kendal, Saskatchewan. He studied engineering and education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, (1960-1962, 1964) before moving to Regina and completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Regina in 1968. Further studies saw Ripplinger receive a diploma in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Regina and participate in more art classes at the same institution.
Ripplinger's paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in Saskatchewan and Alberta. His work can be found in collections including Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon), Government of Saskatchewan, Government of Ontario, Saskatchewan House (London, England), The Edmonton Journal, Federated Co-operatives Ltd. (Saskatoon), Regina Board of Education, and Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation. Ripplinger has received numerous commissions for his work, including from the City of Regina and the Saskatchewan Roughriders Association.
In addition to his painting, Ripplinger was also a writer and published numerous books including If You're Not From the Prairie, which he also illustrated.
In 1988, Ripplinger Fine Art Gallery & Custom Picture Framing opened in Regina. The gallery features the work of Ripplinger and other artists.
Henry Ripplinger died in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, in October 2022. He was 83 years old.
