Trudy Fischer
Trudy Fischer was born in 1917 in Basel, Switzerland. She studied there from 1948 to 1950 before coming to Canada, where she completed further studies in Montreal with Arthur Lismer and Marion Scott (1951), as well as in Saskatoon at the University of Saskatchewan with Eli Bornstein and at the University of Regina with Kenneth Lochhead and Arthur McKay. In addition to her own artistic practice, Fischer worked as a part-time librarian at Saskatoon's Normal School and an art instructor at the Saskatoon Art Centre and the School for the Deaf.
In 1956, Fischer received a Canada Council grant for her research in art education for people with disabilities.
Fischer's work includes serigraphs and paintings in oils, watercolours, and pen and ink. Her work is in the collection of the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Marcos Nadal In 1977 Trudy Fischer and her husband Roland lived in retirement on the island of Majorca, in the Mediterranean. There she continued her work, mostly painting, printing and making collages. She continued to live there even after her husband's death in 1997. We kept in touch with her until about 2005 and at that time she was still living in Majorca, though considering going back to Switzerland. |

Sally Stevens I think this bio is accurate until the end. I lived across the street from Trudy Fischer until she moved back to Europe in the 70's. We lived in Worthington, Ohio. She lived there while her husband was a professor at OSU. To my knowledge, she has never lived in Washington DC and certainly not since the 70's. |
