Judith Poole
Judith Poole was born in 1943 in Tunbridge, England. She studied at London's St. Martin's School of Art (1961-1966) before moving to Canada and working as a medical illustrator for the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Poole also worked as a graphic artist and as an art instructor in the University of Saskatchewan's Department of Extension (1967-1968).
Poole continued to work on her own practice during this time, and she received a Canada Council grant in 1968. Poole worked in fibreglass sculpture as well as painting, and flowers were a frequent subject. Her work was exhibited in Saskatoon, Regina, and Calgary, and can be found in the collections of the University of Saskatchewan and the Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon).
Judith Poole died in 1973 while taking courses towards her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Saskatchewan. The university established the Judy Poole Fine Arts Award in Art in her memory.
