Grant Kernan
Grant Kernan was born in 1955 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but grew up in Napanee, Ontario and near Montreal. Kernan returned to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan, and studied fine arts there and in Maryland before leaving school to work as a photographer.
Kernan worked at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Engineering for several years. In 1984, he opened AK Photos, a business that provides photographic services including print and digital art reproductions. He has also shared his skills with others, teaching workshops on photographing artwork.
Kernan has photographed the work of many visual artists for magazines and catalogues, including the sculptures of Joe Fafard. In addition to his photography, Kernan creates works in watercolour and pastel, usually depicting landscape scenes.
Grant Kernan has lived in Cowichan Bay, British Columbia since 2007. He continues to operate AK Photos and has been involved with the Cowichan Valley Art Studio Tour.
