Geoffrey Wooller

Geoffrey Wooller was born in 1942 in Leeds, England. He came to Saskatchewan in 1959, settling in Kerrobert. Wooller then studied at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon under Otto Rogers and Eli Bornstein. Wooller received his Bachelor of Arts in 1966 before receiving his Master of Arts from Concordia University in Montreal in 1970 (studying with John Ivor Smith and Barry Wainwright) and his Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 1971. Wooller's education also included participation in workshops at Emma Lake, Saskatchewan with Lawrence Alloway, Harold Cohen, and Frank Stella.

Wooller also taught art for most of his life, in Brandon Manitoba at the Brandon Allied Art Centre (1966-1968), in Wynyard, Saskatchewan at Wynyard Composite High School (1970-1974), and in Saskatoon at Bedford Road Collegiate (1975-1976), the University of Saskatchewan (1980-1991), and Walter Murray Collegiate (1976-1993).

Wooller's works have included a variety of media, including painting in watercolour and acrylics, silk screen prints, and welded sculpture. His local Saskatchewan environment has long served as an important influence: “My inspiration for painting has always been the prairie and parkland landscape.”

Wooller has exhibited in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec, and his work is included in the collections of the MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina) and the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
