Alfred Perring Taylor
Alfred Perring Taylor was born in 1872 in Ootacamund, India, to an English family, returning to England in 1874 when Taylor was two years old. Taylor grew up in England, and studied accounting in London before coming to Canada in 1903. Initially settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he later attempted to farm in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, but found it wasn't the life for him. In 1905, he began working in Regina, Saskatchewan for the province's Treasury Department, and in 1913 began serving as Deputy Provincial Treasurer of Saskatchewan.
Painting was a hobby for Taylor. He worked in oils and was at times interested in painting works “of historical value,” including old buildings. His work is part of the collection of the University of Saskatchewan.
After retirement Alfred Perring Taylor retired and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. He died in Vancouver in 1955.
