Christine Evaschesen

Christine Evaschesen was born in 1946 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She studied Education at the University of Saskatchewan's Regina campus and completed a Bachelor of Education degree in 1964. She then pursued an education in art, beginning with a summer school in drawing and architecture through the University of Washington in Seattle (1966). Evaschesen returned to the University of Regina to study visual arts and received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts in 1971. She later attended several workshops at Emma Lake, Saskatchewan, studying drawing and painting with Helmut Becker, Mina Forsyth, Les Groomes, Allan Weinstein, Ted Godwin, and Doug Morton (1979).

Throughout her education, Evaschesen worked as a teacher in schools and for community organizations, including Grant Road Public School (1966-1967), Big Island Lake School (Big Head Reserve, 1969-1970), the Regina Recreation Board (1971), and the Saskatchewan Department of Education (1975-1976). She later became an art instructor for the University of Regina's Extension Division (1980).

Evaschesen's watercolour, oil, and acrylic paintings, prints, and drawings were exhibited in Saskatchewan beginning in 1979 in a group exhibition of drawings at the Dunlop Art Gallery in Regina. Her work is part of the collection of the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Evaschesen has received several grants and bursaries, including from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the University of Regina, and MacKenzie Art Gallery.

Evaschesen has lived in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, since 1971.
