Doug Moen
Doug Moen was born in 1945 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He first pursued a career in science, studying at the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon (1963-1965) and working as a chemical technician in Copper Cliff, Ontario. He returned to Saskatchewan in 1967 to study art, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1969. Beginning in 1966, Moen worked in advertising as a writer and creative director — a position that took him on assignments around the world, including to Australia and to England. He left this work in 1991 and the following year became a partner and creative director for Padulo Advertising in Toronto, Ontario.
Moen's sculpture incorporates a variety of materials, including welded steel and wood. He has exhibited in Saskatchewan and in Ontario. Moen's work is represented in several important collections, including the City of Calgary, University of Saskatchewan, Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon), and the University of Calgary.
