23 Picasso Ceramics Donated to Remai Modern

Saskatchewan-born international art dealer Frederick Mulder has donated 23 ceramic pieces created by Pablo Picasso to Saskatoon’s Remai Modern Art Gallery. The collection of ceramics, valued at $500,000 builds on the gallery’s already exceptional Picasso collection, which includes the 405 Picasso linocuts which were donated to the gallery by the Frank and Ellen Remai Foundation in 2012.

The latest gift includes Picasso ceramic plates, tiles, vessels, vases and sculptures, many of which directly relate to the Remai Modern’s inocuts collection (which Mulder was also responsible for assembling over a decade-long quest to assemble the world’s finest collection of Picasso linocut prints).

Frederick Mulder, who grew up in Eston, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, now lives in London, England and is a leading expert in 19th and 20th century European printmaking. Among his many charitable endeavours  dedicated to social change, he is founder of the Frederick Mulder Foundation and of The Funding Network. In 2012 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth.
