Saskatchewan Artist
William Laczko
William Laczko was born in 1927 in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan. He was a farmer and a miner for most of his life, until seeing the work of Wilf Neill inspired him to take up wood carving.
Laczko's carving began as a hobby. He carved a birch owl for his wife for her birthday and later carved other pieces for family and friends: geese, fish, and human figures. Laczko later sold some of his work and exhibited in local shows.
His work is part of the collection of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and many private Folk Art collections.
