Joanna Vanterpool
Joanna Vanterpool was born in 1930 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She studied there at the University of Saskatchewan, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. Two years later, she received her Master of Arts from the University of Wisconsin. Her art education also included time spent at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and studies in Italy and France after receiving a World University Service Fellowship (1952-1953) and a Canada Foundation Grant (1953). In 1956, Vanterpool received a Thelka M. Bernays Scholarship, and attended the Art Students' League of New York.
Vanterpool’s work is expressionist in style, in a variety of mediums, including watercolour, oils, and collage.
Her work is represented in several important public collections including the University of Saskatchewan, Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon), Saskatchewan Arts Board, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
