MacKenzie Art Gallery Announces Interim Director
The MacKenzie Art Gallery has just announced that Jeremy Morgan will assume the role of Interim Executive Director for the Gallery.
Morgan was the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Arts Board from 1999 to 2010. Since then, he has done consulting work with a number of cultural organizations including having facilitated strategic planning sessions with the MacKenzie’s Board and staff, sessions which resulted in the current Strategic Plan.
Current Executive Director Stuart Reid is stepping down December 16th and is returning to Ontario to take the position of Director/Curator of Rodman Hall Arts Centre at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
“The MacKenzie is grappling with the financial realities that art organizations across the country are facing. Over the past two years, we have set a very progressive course for the Gallery, looking at new ways to engage people, be active in our community and build on our current relationships,” say Reid. “I am pleased about Jeremy’s appointment as Interim Director. He will be an excellent steward for the MacKenzie in the coming months.”
The MacKenzie’s Board of Trustees’ international search for a new Executive Director is expected to take four to six months. Morgan will officially assume the role of Interim Executive Director on January 3, 2012.
“I am looking forward to working with the Board and staff at the MacKenzie,” says Morgan. “They are a forward-looking team and this is a very exciting opportunity.”
